Specifically, we can look at the percentiles for USMLE, as reported by the NBME. The easiest way to answer what a “good” score is to look at the percentiles of all test-takers. Percentiles for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3
It's for the first time and timed, but with 60% UW you score 90+. Does it mean that we have to score 70% for the first time? Or even with second time while using used questions?Ĭould anyone clarify this please? Thank you! I have read in this forum that we should get 70-80% on UW to score 90+ in the exam. Should it be UW score fr the first time? for unused Qs or is it still good for a 2nd or third time UW average?
To Test takers: Try to resist getting obsessed with the scores while practicing with UW! It can be very discouraging to rush your test in order to see the score, ending up neglecting the educational role of this learning tool. That can happen, because some people do UW in the beggining, others in the end, after having completed the study etc.Īs far as it concerns me, I started doing UW after my study and in parallel to my last revision.just in case anybody would find it helpful I got 73% in UW and 259 in the real exam.and the formula predicted a 259.2 !Īnyway, I also believe that this can be affected by many variables.for example, I did not complete the whole UW bank, only about 50%.and I also have met people with lower scores in UW getting a significantly better score in the real exam than others who used to get higher scores in UW. I was impressed when I did that calculation some minutes ago and found out that the formula was just as close as it gets! I wanana add one more thing that real exam look like uworld, but mostly question were basic type.few question were directly from uworld,so uworld helped me alot,i agree with this take uworld as a practice not score judgment, I have also given exam last month and i m waiting for my result,i just post this thread bc i read it yesterday so i wanan share it with all those who r prepr for step 1,my usmle world score was 58 over all,all time mode, first time. And for people who've taken the test already, what do you guys think? Do you think this is fairly accurate? Where did you get that calculation from, just curious. Are you saying that if someone is scoring say 60% on uworld thay would get a 228 on Step 1. (I have seen people scoring 185 & 260 with the UW score of 57% for both) It's a great preparation tool, not so good a predictor. Concentrate on the beauty of the content (Qs and Explanations both). The score has no meaning unless it's a confidence booster.
One advise: Never look at your score while doing UW. (by the way for me UW prediction was quite closer than NBME.) The best predictor ( that too not so reliable) out there is NBME i think. It's right with very high variability depending upon when you took UW, did you do it subjectwise or mixed? Timed or untimed? etc.
